“Freetown Sound” is the third studio album by Blood Orange (the stage name of musician and producer Devonté Hynes), released on June 28, 2016. The album features a diverse range of musical styles and influences, including funk, R&B, gospel, and electronic music, and includes collaborations with a number of guest artists such as Carly Rae Jepsen, Debbie Harry, and Nelly Furtado.

The album’s title is a reference to Freetown, the capital city of Sierra Leone and the birthplace of Hynes’ father. The themes of the album are centered around identity, race, and sexuality, and explore Hynes’ experiences growing up as a black man in England and the United States.

“Freetown Sound” received critical acclaim upon its release, with many critics praising its boldness and experimental approach to music, as well as its thought-provoking lyrics and themes.
