Record Selection Policy

Please choose your record(s) carefully as we do not offer exchanges or refunds for change of mind.

Damaged or Defective Records

If your record arrives damaged or with quality issues, please contact us for next steps so we can ensure you receive a top quality vinyl as you would expect in a bricks and mortar store. From time to time items get damaged in post and/or have defects in pressings which are unforeseen. We will work with you to satisfy your buying expectations and aim to provide new quality pressings at standards of any major retailer.

Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if the item is significantly defective, damaged, or incorrect so we can evaluate the issue and resolve it.

Returns, Refund, Replacement and Quality Issue Claims

Any claims for refund or quality issues need to be made within 14 days of receipt of delivery.

Please note we will not accept returns for issues like skipping or other playback problems that arise specifically with lower-cost turntables. Please see below for further details.

In accordance with the ACCC’s consumer guarantee, The Vinyl Store offers returns or refunds for vinyl records with significant damage or defects. If you receive a damaged, defective, or incorrect item, you can return it within 14 days of delivery. Once we verify the return, we will send a replacement or issue a full refund for the item and delivery costs (if it is the only item purchased in your order). We typically supply reply paid return slips when we ask to return an item for inspection. In some cases supplying a video file or pictures will suffice instead of returning an item and will be directed on a case by case basis with The Vinyl Store.

Please choose carefully when ordering from The Vinyl Store. Once an order is placed, it is considered final unless there is a valid reason for cancellation. According to Australian Competition & Consumer Commission laws, you are not automatically entitled to a refund if you change your mind or realize you made the wrong choice.

Playback issues on turntables with non-adjustable tonearms and built-in speakers.

It is important to understand that a slight degree of warp is common and can be compensated for with an adjustable tonearm. We do not accept returns for issues like skipping or playback problems that arise specifically with lower-cost turntables. These issues often occur on models lacking features like a counterweighted tonearm, anti-skate capabilities, or that use inferior stylus quality — typically found in non-adjustable or briefcase-style turntables. Additionally, we do not accept returns for playback issues on turntables with built-in speakers.

This includes, but is not limited to, the following brands/models with turntables possessing non-adjustable tonearms or integrated speakers:

1byone (eg. Belt-Drive 3 Speed Portable Stereo Turntable)
Audio Technica AT-LP60X
Audiosonic
Brauhn
Bush
Crosley (eg. C6, Cruiser Deluxe, Voyager)
Denon (eg. DP-29F, DP-200USB)
Digitech
Flea Market
Fenton
GPO (eg. Attache Case style turntable)
House of Marley (eg. Stir It Up)
Ion (eg. Max LP, Premier LP)
Jensen (eg. JTA-230)
Koolbitz
Looptone
Lenco
Magnavox
MBeat
Midex
Numark (eg. PT01 Touring)
Sony (eg. PS-LX310BT)
Thomson
Victrola (eg. Vintage 3-Speed, Navigator 8-in-1 Classic Bluetooth)

Creased sleeves and spindle label tears

We take great care in packaging our products to ensure safe delivery. However, vinyl sleeves may sometimes suffer minor creases or bends during shipment. While we cannot accept responsibility for delivery service handling, customers are encouraged to report any damages by sending photos or videos to [email protected] for evaluation and appropriate action.

Under the ACCC consumer guarantee, minor cosmetic damage to a record sleeve or label, which does not impact playback, does not obligate businesses to provide a replacement or refund.
