Originally released in 1981, Dance Craze: The Best of British Ska…Live! captures the energy of the 2 Tone movement at its peak. Recorded at venues across the UK during 1980, the soundtrack brings together exclusive live performances by The Specials, Madness, The Selecter, The Beat, Bad Manners and The Bodysnatchers.
Featuring electrifying versions of “One Step Beyond,” “Mirror In The Bathroom,” “Night Boat To Cairo,” “Too Much Pressure” and “Nite Klub,” the album offers a vivid snapshot of the ska revival that transformed British music and youth culture at the beginning of the 1980s.
This 2LP edition was mastered and cut at half-speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios using the original production tapes, with approval from 2 Tone founder Jerry Dammers. The album is spread across two 12-inch records playing at 45 RPM for optimum audio quality.
