Thundercat Distracted

Distracted is the fifth studio album from boundary-pushing bassist, singer and producer Thundercat, marking his return after six years and continuing his evolution as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary R&B, funk and electronic music. Blending virtuosic musicianship with playful, genre-defying songwriting, the album navigates the complexities of modern life with both humour and introspection.

Created in close collaboration with acclaimed producer Greg Kurstin, and featuring additional contributions from Flying Lotus, Kenny Beats and The Lemon Twigs, Distracted brings together a rich sonic palette of jazz-funk grooves, synth-driven textures and experimental pop. Guest appearances from artists including A$AP Rocky, WILLOW, Tame Impala, Channel Tres, Lil Yachty and a posthumous collaboration with Mac Miller further expand the album’s scope.

Lyrically, Distracted explores the tension between overstimulation and introspection in the digital age, reflecting on how distraction can be both a hindrance and a source of creativity.
