Better in Blak is the debut album from acclaimed Gamilaraay singer-songwriter Thelma Plum, establishing her as one of Australia’s most distinctive and compelling contemporary voices.
Featuring the singles “Better in Blak,” “Not Angry Anymore” and triple j Hottest 100 entry “Clumsy Love,” the album combines candid storytelling, sharp social observation and richly melodic indie pop. Its songs explore identity, love, heartbreak, resilience and Plum’s experiences as a young Indigenous woman in Australia.
Created with regular collaborator Alex Burnett and featuring contributions from Gang of Youths frontman David Le’aupepe, Better in Blak captures Plum at her songwriting best: intimate, assured and emotionally direct.
