The Cramps Fiends of Dope Island

Back in print for the first time in eight years, The Cramps' Fiends Of Dope Island returns for 2026 on Pink Vinyl, resurrecting the legendary band's final studio album in suitably lurid style.

Originally released in 2003, Fiends Of Dope Island was the eighth and final studio album by The Cramps, arriving more than two decades after Lux Interior and Poison Ivy first began twisting rockabilly, garage rock, punk, horror and trash culture into their unmistakable sound.

Recorded in Hollywood in August 2002 and self-produced by Poison Ivy and Lux Interior, the album was originally issued through the band's revived Vengeance Records label. Its title takes inspiration from the 1959 film Fiend of Dope Island, perfectly matching the B-movie aesthetic that had always inhabited The Cramps' strange musical universe.

The record finds the band applying their wicked toxibilly treatment to a volatile collection of primitive rock 'n' roll, sleazy blues and psychedelic menace. Big Black Witchcraft Rock and Papa Satan Sang Louie deliver sinister rock 'n' roll incantations, while Dopefiend Boogie and Wrong Way Ticket plunge headfirst into crypt-kicking blues and garage-rock chaos.

Elsewhere, The Cramps put their own warped stamp on the exotica standard Taboo, turning it into something unmistakably their own. Fissure Of Rolando was dedicated to actor John Agar, another connection to the cult cinema and pulp culture that remained central to the band's world throughout their career.

As the final studio statement from one of underground rock's most influential and gloriously unconventional bands, Fiends Of Dope Island is The Cramps right to the end — sleazy, funny, dangerous and utterly committed to their own mutant vision of rock 'n' roll.

This 2026 reissue brings the long-unavailable album back into print on Pink Vinyl.
