More than four decades into their remarkable career, Australian psychedelic rock legends The Church continue to evolve with their 28th studio album, Lacuna.
Following the critical acclaim of The Hypnogogue, which was named among SPIN’s best albums of 2023, Lacuna carries the band’s latest creative chapter forward. Founder, bassist and vocalist Steve Kilbey describes the record as “intense, forlorn, and exultant,” capturing its combination of emotional depth, immersive atmosphere and melodic power.
Across 17 tracks, The Church draw upon the cinematic indie rock, shimmering post-punk, dream pop and psychedelic textures that have defined their music since 1980. The result is an expansive album that remains true to their unmistakable identity while continuing to explore new sonic territory.
