The Beatles' groundbreaking 1966 masterpiece Revolver is presented in an expansive Super Deluxe 4LP + 7" Box Set, offering a remarkable exploration of both the finished album and the studio experimentation behind one of the most influential records ever made.
Originally released in August 1966, Revolver marked an extraordinary creative leap for The Beatles. Moving increasingly beyond the conventions of live performance, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr used the recording studio itself as an instrument, experimenting with tape loops, backwards recording, variable-speed techniques, unconventional instrumentation and increasingly sophisticated arrangements.
The result produced an astonishing range of music, from Taxman, Eleanor Rigby and I'm Only Sleeping through Here, There And Everywhere, Yellow Submarine, Got To Get You Into My Life and the revolutionary album closer Tomorrow Never Knows.
For this 2022 edition, the original album was given a new stereo mix by Giles Martin and Sam Okell, using cutting-edge audio technology to separate elements from the original four-track master tapes before creating a new mix with greater clarity while retaining the character of the original recordings.
The Super Deluxe vinyl collection goes considerably deeper, with two LPs of sessions recordings revealing early takes, rehearsals, demos and alternate versions as the songs evolved in the studio. A fourth LP presents the original mono master, while the accompanying 7" EP features Paperback Writer and Rain in both newly mixed stereo and their original mono versions.
The box set is completed by a 100-page hardback book featuring a foreword by Paul McCartney, an introduction by Giles Martin, detailed track information, photographs, handwritten lyrics and other material documenting the creation of the album.
