The Avalanches’ Wildflower returns as a 2026 reissue on black double vinyl, revisiting the Australian group’s acclaimed 2016 album. Released after a 16-year absence, it opened a new chapter with a warm, psychedelic blend of sunshine pop, hip-hop and intricately woven samples.
Forgotten records, homemade recordings and found sounds come together alongside collaborators including Danny Brown, MF DOOM, Toro y Moi and Biz Markie. From the uplifting “Because I’m Me” to the eccentric “Frankie Sinatra” and dreamy “If I Was A Folkstar”, the album balances infectious rhythms with unexpected twists.
Across 21 tracks, Wildflower unfolds like a hazy summer journey, full of colourful characters, fleeting memories and melodies that drift into one another. Playful, strange and richly detailed, it rewards listening from beginning to end.
