The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales is an ambitious concept album from Shaboozey, expanding his distinctive blend of country, Americana, hip-hop and contemporary pop into a cinematic Western tale of revenge, love and redemption.
Following the enormous success of the multi-platinum global hit A Bar Song (Tipsy) and his appearances on Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter, Shaboozey builds upon the genre-crossing sound of Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going with his most narrative-driven project to date.
At the centre of the album is Cherie Lee, the daughter of a sheriff whose murder at the hands of the Bootcut Boys sends her on a relentless pursuit of vengeance. Abandoning the badge, she sets out to hunt down the gang one by one, only for her mission to become complicated when she falls in love with an outlaw connected to the men she is pursuing.
Their relationship offers the possibility of redemption for them both, but the violence surrounding Cherie's quest proves impossible to escape. As revenge overtakes love, the story builds towards a tragic conclusion in which Cherie must confront what her vendetta has transformed her into.
Gritty, soulful and cinematic, The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales uses the imagery and storytelling traditions of the American West as the backdrop for a modern exploration of vengeance, morality and the destructive cycle of violence. It further establishes Shaboozey's New Americana approach, bringing together Western storytelling and contemporary genre-crossing production.
