Queen's monumental sixth studio album News Of The World returns in a premium 2026 reissue, presented on heavyweight 180g vinyl, half-speed mastered for exceptional audio quality and housed in its classic gatefold sleeve.

Originally released in 1977, News Of The World marked a shift in direction for Queen. After the elaborate, multi-layered production of albums such as A Night At The Opera and A Day At The Races, the band deliberately pursued a more spontaneous, direct and comparatively stripped-back sound. It was also the first Queen album produced entirely by the band themselves.

The result delivered two of the most universally recognised rock anthems ever recorded. Brian May's stomping We Will Rock You opens the album before flowing directly into Freddie Mercury's triumphant We Are The Champions — a pairing that has become inseparable from sporting events and popular culture around the world.

But News Of The World extends far beyond its two enormous opening tracks. Roger Taylor delivers the raw punk-influenced Sheer Heart Attack, while Mercury's Spread Your Wings showcases the band's gift for soaring melodic rock. Brian May takes the lead vocal on the bluesy Sleeping On The Sidewalk, and the album moves through everything from hard rock and funk to blues and reflective balladry.

More immediate and muscular than its predecessors while retaining Queen's remarkable musical versatility, News Of The World became one of the defining albums of the band's career and remains an essential part of the classic rock canon.
