Public Enemy Yo! Bum Rush The Show

Originally released in 1987, Yo! Bum Rush The Show is the groundbreaking debut album from Public Enemy, marking the arrival of one of the most influential and politically charged acts in hip-hop history. While later albums would push their sound and message even further, this debut laid the foundation for the group’s unmistakable style and impact.

Fronted by Chuck D and Flavor Flav, the album blends hard-hitting beats with sharp, confrontational lyricism and an emerging social consciousness. Produced by the legendary The Bomb Squad, the record introduces a dense, sample-driven sound that would later become a defining feature of Public Enemy’s music.

Tracks such as “Public Enemy No. 1,” “You’re Gonna Get Yours,” and “Miuzi Weighs a Ton” showcase the group’s early fusion of street-level storytelling, political edge and innovative production. The album captures the raw energy of late-1980s hip-hop while pointing toward the more expansive and revolutionary work that would follow.

This vinyl LP reissue brings back a crucial piece of hip-hop history, offering listeners a chance to experience the origins of Public Enemy’s powerful voice and enduring influence on the genre.
