Pixies Bossanova

Originally released in 1990, Bossanova is the third studio album by Pixies and the follow-up to their platinum-selling breakthrough Doolittle. Reuniting with producer Gil Norton, the band moved beyond their more primal early sound to explore surf rock, space rock and increasingly atmospheric textures.
Featuring “Velouria,” “Dig For Fire” and “Allison”—a tribute to jazz and blues pianist Mose Allison—the album also opens with “Cecilia Ann,” the first cover to appear on a Pixies album. Black Francis’ cryptic lyrics carry a recurring science-fiction theme, reflected in Vaughan Oliver’s distinctive planetary sleeve artwork.
For this 2026 reissue, engineer Kevin Vanbergen returned to the original analogue tapes to create a newly remastered edition that reveals further depth and detail within the recording. The album is pressed on standard black vinyl.
