Melbourne duo Oh Pep! may have cut their teeth on plucky folk tunes, but their debut album makes a bold leap to accomplished indie rock and radio-friendly pop. Yet for all the playful risk-taking here, there’s also a pervasive air of cool, confident craftsmanship—just look to the jittery pulse of “Bushwick” and the snappy beat of “Happenstance”, which help catapult charismatic songwriting and sudden structural twists into a dizzying array of colours.
