Mastodon Marrow Deep

Mastodon begin an ambitious new chapter with Marrow Deep, their long-awaited follow-up to 2021’s expansive Hushed and Grim.

Inspired by the Three Fates of Greek mythology and the fragile threads connecting life, loss and destiny, the album finds founding members Brann Dailor, Troy Sanders and Bill Kelliher emerging from years of personal upheaval with renewed purpose. Marrow Deep channels those experiences into some of the band’s most expansive, adventurous and emotionally resonant music, preserving the crushing riffs and progressive songwriting that have defined Mastodon while pushing their sound into new territory.

The album marks Mastodon’s first full-length release featuring guitarist Nick Johnston and includes significant contributions from keyboardist João Nogueira. It was co-produced by the band at West End Sound in Atlanta with Patrik Berger and Kurt Ballou, before being mixed by Andrew Scheps.

Lead single “Snakes For Dinner” features guest vocals from Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, marking his first appearance on a Mastodon recording since “Colony of Birchmen” from 2006’s Blood Mountain. Anchored by crushing riffs and soaring melodies, the track reflects upon absence, grief and the uncertain path forward.

Released through Loma Vista Recordings, Marrow Deep is presented here as a vinyl 2LP.
