Description
On Shades of Blue, acclaimed producer and DJ Madlib ventures deep into the legendary Blue Note vaults, reshaping jazz classics through his unmistakable hip-hop vision.
The album moves between inventive remixes and full-band reinterpretations, bringing fresh rhythm and character to material by Donald Byrd, Ronnie Foster, Horace Silver and Wayne Shorter. Highlights include “Stepping Into Tomorrow,” “Mystic Bounce,” “Song for My Father” and “Footprints,” with contributions from Madlib’s jazz ensemble Yesterday’s New Quintet.
Part of the Blue Note Classic series, this stereo reissue is pressed on 180g double vinyl and presented in a gatefold sleeve.
