Fontaines D.C. return with their fifth studio album, Dopamine Chamber, released via XL Recordings. Produced by James Ford, the album follows 2024's acclaimed Romance and finds the Dublin five-piece pushing their music further into colder, stranger and increasingly synthetic territory.

Romance marked a major breakthrough for the band, reaching No. 2 in the UK and earning two GRAMMY nominations, including Best Rock Album and Best Alternative Music Performance for Starburster. Fontaines D.C. subsequently won International Group of the Year at the 2025 BRIT Awards, further establishing themselves as one of the defining alternative bands of their generation.

Introduced by lead single Marianne, Dopamine Chamber represents another significant evolution. The guitars that defined the band's early records increasingly give way to synthetic textures, atmospheric production and expansive arrangements, while Grian Chatten's distinctive vocals remain at the centre. Potent balladry and anthemic melodies emerge through a darker, more unsettling sonic landscape.

The album explores pleasure and escapism in an increasingly unstable world, questioning how the pursuit of stimulation changes when surrounded by uncertainty and anxiety. Its title reflects the band's conception of the record as a space the listener enters — a kind of musical experiment in which different sounds, moods and emotions alter the experience from within.

As Chatten explains, "The album itself is a dopamine chamber" — a room in which Fontaines D.C. test a series of mood-altering pieces of music on the listener.

Dopamine Chamber captures a band continuing to evolve rather than retracing the sound that established them, pushing decisively beyond their post-punk beginnings into a more immersive and experimental new phase.
