Floating Points Elaenia

Originally released in 2015, Elaenia introduced the world to the full-length vision of Sam Shepherd, better known as Floating Points, and immediately established itself as one of the defining electronic albums of the decade.

Blending broken beat, spiritual jazz, ambient textures, krautrock influences and electronic experimentation, Elaenia showcased a composer and producer operating far beyond traditional dance music boundaries. The album's sweeping arrangements and meticulous musicianship revealed the depth of Shepherd's musical ambitions, bridging his background in club culture with his classical training and deep love of jazz.

Featuring standout pieces including Silhouettes (I, II & III), Elaenia, Argenté and Peroration Six, the album moves effortlessly between moments of delicate beauty and explosive catharsis. Its lush instrumentation and expansive compositions earned widespread critical acclaim and laid the foundations for future masterpieces including Promises with Pharoah Sanders and the London Symphony Orchestra.

This special 10th Anniversary Edition celebrates the album that helped define Floating Points' career and introduced many listeners to his singular musical world. Pressed with Elaenia on stunning Horizon coloured vinyl and accompanied by the Kuiper EP on Waterfall coloured vinyl, the release also includes the previously unreleased bonus track Precursor and comes housed in a hand-numbered gatefold sleeve.

A decade on, Elaenia remains a remarkable achievement — an album that feels as forward-thinking, immersive and emotionally resonant today as it did upon its original release.
