ire From The Hip marks a bold evolution for Finn Wolfhard, expanding beyond the raw, lo-fi character of his earlier work into a bigger, richer and more collaborative guitar-driven sound.
Drawing inspiration from classic rock touchstones including The Rolling Stones’ Exile On Main St. and Beggars Banquet, Wolfhard approaches the album with what he describes as a move from a “16mm” aesthetic towards a broader “35mm-fidelity” sound. The result captures the immediacy and energy of his live band while allowing the songs and arrangements room to stretch out.
Upbeat, melodic and firmly rooted in rock, Fire From The Hip showcases Wolfhard continuing to establish his own musical identity as a songwriter and performer. Highlights include I’ll Let You Finish, Tunnels and Follow, with the album balancing classic influences against a distinctly contemporary indie-rock sensibility.
