Originally released in July 1980, Searching for the Young Soul Rebels is the acclaimed debut album by Dexys Midnight Runners.
Led by Kevin Rowland, the album introduced the band’s distinctive fusion of soul, punk energy and Celtic influence, driven by impassioned vocals, prominent brass arrangements and a fierce sense of purpose. Its raw, urgent sound stood apart from much of the era’s polished pop, establishing Dexys as one of Britain’s most original and uncompromising bands.
Featuring the enduring singles “Geno” and “There, There, My Dear,” alongside fan favourites including “Burn It Down” and “Tell Me When My Light Turns Green,” Searching for the Young Soul Rebels remains a landmark of British soul and post-punk.
