Celebrating the 10th anniversary of Teens Of Denial, Car Seat Headrest revisit and reimagine the acclaimed album as Teen Of Denial: Joe’s Story.
On the original record, Will Toledo frequently used “Joe” as a pseudonym—a playful homage to Daniel Johnston. Returning to the album a decade later, Toledo developed a distinct backstory for the character and reshaped the record around Joe’s tale.
Reuniting with original producer Steve Fisk, the band newly recorded the album with revised arrangements, alternate lyrics and three new original songs created in its signature “Denial-style,” including “Optimistic Son” and the anthemic “Joe Drives Again.”
The result preserves the original album’s dark edge, restless energy and youthful cynicism while introducing a sense of perspective and hard-won compassion. Presented across two vinyl LPs.
