Encouraging Words is the fifth studio album from soul and gospel virtuoso Billy Preston, originally released in 1970 on Apple Records. Marking his second and final release for the label, the album captures Preston at a creatively rich moment, blending spiritual themes with soulful melodies and polished production.
Co-produced by George Harrison, the record notably features early versions of Harrison’s “All Things Must Pass” and “My Sweet Lord,” released ahead of Harrison’s own landmark recordings. Preston’s rendition of “My Sweet Lord” was issued as a single and reflects the album’s deeply spiritual tone and gospel-rooted sound.
While Encouraging Words did not achieve major chart success at the time, it has since been recognised as one of the strongest non-Beatles releases from the Apple catalogue, admired for its warmth, sincerity and musical depth.
This limited edition reissue is presented on gold vinyl LP in stereo, offering a striking and collectible edition of a soulful and often overlooked gem in Billy Preston’s discography.
