Beasts Of Bourbon The Low Road

The Low Road is the fourth studio album from Australian rock outfit Beasts of Bourbon, originally released in 1991 and widely regarded as one of the defining records of the band’s catalogue. Blending swampy blues, hard-edged rock and dark, atmospheric storytelling, the album captures the group at a creative peak.

Featuring a revitalised lineup with Tony Pola on drums and Brian Hooper on bass, the band teamed with renowned producer Tony Cohen—known for his work with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and The Birthday Party—to craft a record full of grit, tension and raw energy. Tracks such as “Chase the Dragon,” the brooding cover of AC/DC’s “Ride On,” and the Hendrix-inspired “Just Right” highlight the album’s heavy, immersive sound.

The first LP features the original album, while the second includes a selection of live recordings from 1991–1992, including an extended performance of Cocksucker Blues.
