Basement Colourmeinkindness

Originally released in 2012, Colourmeinkindness marked a defining moment for Basement, expanding upon the foundations of their debut and helping establish the band as one of the most influential names in modern emo and alternative rock.

Emerging from Ipswich, England, Basement had already earned acclaim for the raw emotion and melodic urgency of I Wish I Could Stay Here, but with Colourmeinkindness the band pushed beyond the boundaries of the revivalist emo scene that first embraced them. The result was a record that combined the vulnerability and introspection of emo with the weight and texture of alternative rock, post-hardcore and shoegaze.

Featuring fan favourites including Covet, Spoiled and Pine, the album captured a band rapidly finding its own voice and laid the groundwork for the widespread influence Basement would have on an entire generation of guitar bands.

Ironically, just as the album was beginning to propel the group towards broader recognition, Basement announced an indefinite hiatus before its release had fully run its course. In the years that followed, however, Colourmeinkindness only grew in stature, becoming widely regarded as one of the defining alternative records of its era and inspiring countless artists across emo, punk and indie rock.

This Deluxe Anniversary Edition celebrates the album's enduring legacy with the original record presented in full across the first disc, while a second disc features four alternate versions of classic tracks alongside an exclusive Side D etching.

The release also includes a new insert featuring photographs and liner notes from the band reflecting on the making of the album, all housed in a premium package featuring a new embossed slipcase and gatefold sleeve with the original artwork, lyrics and credits.
