Air Moon Safari

Moon Safari is the landmark debut album from French electronic duo Air, a beautifully crafted blend of downtempo electronics, dreamy pop, analogue synthesisers and effortlessly sophisticated production.

Originally released in 1998, Moon Safari introduced Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel to an international audience and quickly became one of the defining electronic albums of its era. Built around warm Moog synthesisers, lush keyboards, understated rhythms and softly processed vocals, the album created a distinctive sound that felt simultaneously retro-futuristic and completely contemporary.

The record includes the irresistible Sexy Boy, the space-age pop of Kelly Watch The Stars and the elegant All I Need, featuring vocals from Beth Hirsch. Hirsch also appears on the beautifully understated You Make It Easy, while instrumental pieces including La Femme D'Argent showcase Air's cinematic approach to arrangement and atmosphere.

Moving effortlessly between electronic pop, lounge, ambient textures and downtempo grooves, Moon Safari became closely associated with the late-'90s chill-out movement while transcending the genre through the strength of its songwriting and production.

More than 25 years after its original release, Moon Safari remains Air's defining work and an essential album of modern French electronic music.
