Adrianne Lenker Bright Future

On Bright Future, Adrianne Lenker presents a deeply intimate collection of songs captured with warmth, clarity and remarkable emotional precision. Known for her work both as a solo artist and as the songwriter and vocalist of Big Thief, Lenker brings her gift for vivid imagery and unexpected turns of phrase into a stripped-back, collaborative setting.

Recorded directly to analogue tape with largely unspliced performances, the album preserves the spontaneity of musicians creating together in the same room. Lenker is joined by Nick Hakim, Mat Davidson and Josefin Runsteen, whose piano, guitar, violin and vocal contributions form a delicate setting around her acoustic playing and expressive voice.

Featuring “Sadness As A Gift,” “Fool,” “Free Treasure,” “Vampire Empire” and “Ruined,” Bright Future draws upon folk traditions while creating something distinctly contemporary. Tender, raw and quietly adventurous, it captures one of her generation’s most distinctive songwriters at her most open and immediate.
