Description
2016’s Boronia introduced the world to the alt-rock duo from Wollongong. Blend Inn keeps the momentum going with a clutch of distorted power-pop gems. “Where I Came From” and “Whatever” shows Hockey Dad can operate outside of the bash/pop frequencies and evoke subtle grandeur. But rumbling, tumbling tracks like “Homely Feeling”, “Running Out” and “Join the Club” whip up beautiful chaos reminiscent of The Strokes or Arctic Monkeys. “Sweet Release” sums up the Hockey Dad ethos: “I’m going to have me a time/I’m gonna lose my mind”. Amen to that.
