With guitar strums and spare piano chords, the New Zealand singer/songwriter constructs intimate, haunting transmissions that invoke Joni, Kate and Nico. Harding freezes birds in flight with the subtle power of her voice on “Swell Does the Skull” and “Horizon”. Additional credit goes to PJ Harvey producer John Parish, who brings out deep colour and firmly frames Harding in the present.
